While the purposes of sleep remain partly clear and a subject of intense research, Matsushita Electric Works has crafted a bed that promises a good night’s sleep at $1,102,362. Automatically controlled by Panasonic’s unique program, “sleep” understands lighting, sound, air conditioning to provide an environment appropriate to the state of sleep. As the user reaches the sleeping moment, the sensors within the bed detects the loss of motion and the bed lighting, music and television automatically turns off and vise versa to turn it on in the morning. Apart from the bed’s promise of the good night’s sleep, the result of this witty invention might eliminate the ever-growing mass-market books by sleep specialists.
